Timeline & Basic Overview

1966 - Cryogenic research begins alongside the death of Walt Disney. While this research fails to preserve Walt Disney, studies continue on the backburner.

1985 - Cryogenics begin to be used covertly for military use.

1998 - The Cryogenic Convict Labor Reserve program begins at this point, in an effort to reform the prison system. Cryogenics receive considerable public interest, but extensive PSA's and media coverage prevent serious unrest, detailing how they are best utilized for short-term slumber and are still in a testing phase. Prisoners involved in the project are used primarily as test subjects for cryogenics in general.

Up until 2018, all real world history is recognized. We fully diverge from reality at this point.

2020 - The Presidential elections break down into a "civil war" in the United States. This unrest and disorder leads almost immediately to the collapse of the US dollar and of American society at large. This sets off a domino effect, leading to a global economic collapse. The entire world becomes a free for all warzone. The elites of society hide in bunkers and utilize cryogenic sleep to survive through this period of turmoil. Millions perish without the firing of a single nuclear warhead. The Cryogenic Convict Labor Reserve program survives due to its use of fortified underground facilities, though some centers are looted and destroyed.

2047 - At this point, the world's population has lowered to what the elites consider an "acceptable" and "sustainable" amount. They return to the surface and attempt to establish a global order. Instead, they are met by stiff resistance from emerging nation-states that instead beat them into submission. A global confederation forms as society is rebuilt from the ground up. The "Earth Confederation" determines that humanity must look to the stars for a better future, to prevent another collapse, which primarily occurred due an unstable global economy and overpopulation.

2049 - Cryogenic technology is utilized by the Earth Confederation strategically and civilian usage of the technology is forbidden.

2056 - The first attempts at space colonization are made. Convicts from the cryogenic reserve are sent to Mars alongside androids and human settlers to terraform the planet. There is limited success. At the same time, Moon colonization begins, also using prison reserve labor.

2078 - A breakthrough is made in space travel technology, allowing large distances to be covered in seemingly impossible amounts of time. This allows colonization to expand outside of the solar system. Several expeditionary ships are sent to explore Earth-like planets.

2092 - Labor forces are sent out to aid in colonizing habitable planets. Some of these consist of convicts brought out of cryogenic storage, often policed around and led by androids, either guided by AI or remote controllers.

2100 - Many begin to migrate from Earth to planets on the colonial frontier.


For the next 200 years, the Earth Confederation continues efforts of space colonization.

Several planets eventually fight wars for independence. The Confederation makes clear efforts to prevent this, but they fail several times. Despite this, they continue efforts to further colonize the galactic frontier.

The galaxy, in many ways, becomes a new "Wild West." Confederation in name, but really, a place without solid claims. While Earth sees relative peace, companies and nations posture against each other in the stars.


Our story begins in 2204. The Sharpe Galactic Company has received Confederation resources to colonize a faraway planet, like Earth, but made up mostly of scattered islands. Its expedition force seems to have lost contact with the SGC command, but the first labor force is being sent in anyway. You are part of this force, pulled from the Cryogenic Convict Labor Reserve program.
